Kevan and I had the opportunity to ski Lake Louise this weekend and had a great time. The snow was pretty weak inbounds so we ended up hiking over by Blue Shirt on the far NE corner of the resort and found some relatively untouched pow and a sweet cliff. After skiing it once we decided it was imperative that we get the camera and show off some of our skills.

Tofield, Alberta...last year
I figured that if I don't have anything interesting to write, I should at least put something on here!
This was on our long, prairie drive to Tofield, Alberta for Duane to do a set-up for work.

Oops
It's been a busy sort of week at our house, so I haven't had a chance to blog since last week. Sorry! Honestly, though, nothing much has really gone on that seems worthy of blogging anyway. I still have to figure out how to change the HTML code on our banner to change it up, and it now seems to be quite the process. Really, it's just that we haven't asked anyone how to do it. In the end, it'll probably take way longer than necessary and it'll be Duane doing it, not me. I have no aptitude for such things.
My mom was here this week to look after grandpa while my aunt and uncle were away, so I got a good home-cooked meal of lasagne this week!! YUM! Thanks mom! One day I'll make it myself...maybe. And I'll add the spinach. I also spent one of my breaks over there for lunch with mom; that was fun. We were able to chat, eat yummy food, and catch up.
I'm in the middle of watching MI:3 with Kevan, Leah, and Duane...I just needed a break. I'm pretty much missing the end.
I wanted to let you all know that we're still around. Duane's heading out to go skiing at Louise tomorrow; it's supposed to be pretty good snow out there.
Karen, just to let you know...we'll be in Abby in the summer...maybe we can have a photo session with Ava then? :) Fun, fun!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Playing Around
We're fiddling around with the website to make it look a little more presentable. Bear with us. We're also hoping to add our own personal touch, putting our own pictures in the banner area instead of the one from the template. We just have to figure out how to do it(not hard, I'm sure). It'll be a few days before we can adjust it, being that we're heading off this afternoon for Whitewood!
Yay Saskatchewan!

The Launch of Duane Clemens Photography!
Well, it's sounding more official every day. Duane Clemens Photography and Kevan Wilkie Photography are starting to take off and it looks like we have at least one gig lined up this summer together with the potential for at least two more! Kevan and I are starting to discuss the direction we want our businesses to take and looking into investing in some gear to move us into the professional realm!
We're currently focusing on portrait photography, weddings being our main stay but certainly not limited to them. We're going to be investing in some studio lighting in the coming months and hopefully that will lead to a few gigs doing portraits for families & friends.
I know there are a lot of people who read our blog from all over the country so I'm just going to throw this out there for anyone in the immediate area (within 300km of Calgary) that we're going to be offering VERY good prices to begin with for our portrait sessions to help get ourselves off the ground and build up a portfolio. So, if anyone is interested in having some family portraits, wedding/anniversary portraits, or individual portraits taken please let me know either by giving me a call or sending me an email to duane.clemens AT gmail.com
Here are a few samples of wedding/anniversary shots I've taken:

How Brilliant!
Man, I love short work weeks. I have a 3 day week this week(last day tomorrow)...which is good because the roads SUCK here in Calgary(the city is seriously lacking in snow-clearing manpower)! I have, then, a 5 day weekend (WOOHOO!!) and a 4 day week next week! I do love my job, most days, but I also really love sleeping in and having the day to do what I want...NOT including disciplining unruly and noisy children! It is most unfortunate that Duane can't have the time off that I have, aside from our weekends together, but at least we have that. We tend to be weekend warriors because that's the time we have to do fun stuff. We'll almost always have dinner with friends on Friday night, and being that it's winter, Duane and any number of people will head out to the snow-tipped peaks around Calgary to "make fresh tracks" on Saturdays. I, then, act the housewife part and stay home to tidy our cozy abode. When it's not winter, I forego cleaning to head out to the not-snow-covered peaks with our friends to set my sights upon the nature that we are blessed to have around us. And there is most definitely camping involved. Anywhooo...back to the point since it's not summer and I don't go to the mountains. Since I don't go to the mountains, Duane and I called up my dear sister and bro-in-law in Whitewood, Saskatchewan and invited ourselves out there for a few days to enjoy the flatness of the beautiful prairies! I love winter in Saskatchewan :) Yes, I'm nuts apparently. I miss having my family close to me, so we had to remedy it by using my days off work to visit. I'm pretty excited about going out since it's been a few months since we've had the chance to see them.
Well, priorities are priorities and American Idol is starting now...so I must go! Oh the shows I indulge in with "peasant-vision". I can't wait for Amazing Race to start again. :)

It Was A No-Go For Me
I thought I might have some fun and interesting news about our trip to Fernie and my second attempt at snowboarding but, as it turns out, I woke up Saturday morning with a lot of sciatic pain in my back. It had been bothering me slightly throughout the week but I thought it might go away in time for the weekend. I was wrong. I must've slept on it wrong so I told Duane I wasn't going. Kevan and Leah were staying in Elkford that weekend(and were supposed to join us on the hill), but they called in on Saturday morning and opted out of skiing as well. They had heard the conditions were less than desirable, so it was a day spent marking for them instead. As it turns out, the ski conditions were wonderful(according to those who DID go), and it was one of the best times they'd had there! I guess the hill hadn't had fresh snow for a week or something, so that's what turned Kev and Leah away, but that meant there wasn't a fight for fresh powder(that there wasn't any of), and the group that went was able to do the runs without much interference. Saturday night was spent with friends and family(Kevan and Leah came and joined us then) celebrating Aaron's birthday. We had a delicious dinner of ribs, rice, and salad with fruit bowls and angelfood cake for dessert. We had cinnamon rolls again Sunday morning which were the leftovers from Saturday morning that Mrs. Glover had made especially for Aaron's birthday breakfast. Delicious! After driving Duane to the hill, I spent the day driving and walking around Fernie. I took a few pictures, did some window shopping, and then spent time reading back at the house.
It was a relaxing weekend..just what we needed.

It's not an urban legend but is fun to watch. Check this out if you want a quick laugh. I plan on trying this one day soon.
1 Bottle of Diet Coke, 2L = $1.99
1 Package of Mentos = $1.19
Combine and Throw = Priceless!

I Was Bored
What does your drawing say about YOU?
The results of your analysis say:
You tend to pursue many different activities simultaneously. When misfortune does happen, it doesn't actually dishearten you all that much.
You are a thoughtful and cautious person. You like to think about your method, seeking to pursue your goal in the most effective way.
You like following the rules and being objective. You are precise and meticulous, and like to evaluate decisions before making them.
You have a sunny, cheerful disposition.
Found this link on another blog. Kind of neat if you've got nothing better to do!
