It Was A No-Go For Me

I thought I might have some fun and interesting news about our trip to Fernie and my second attempt at snowboarding but, as it turns out, I woke up Saturday morning with a lot of sciatic pain in my back. It had been bothering me slightly throughout the week but I thought it might go away in time for the weekend. I was wrong. I must've slept on it wrong so I told Duane I wasn't going. Kevan and Leah were staying in Elkford that weekend(and were supposed to join us on the hill), but they called in on Saturday morning and opted out of skiing as well. They had heard the conditions were less than desirable, so it was a day spent marking for them instead. As it turns out, the ski conditions were wonderful(according to those who DID go), and it was one of the best times they'd had there! I guess the hill hadn't had fresh snow for a week or something, so that's what turned Kev and Leah away, but that meant there wasn't a fight for fresh powder(that there wasn't any of), and the group that went was able to do the runs without much interference. Saturday night was spent with friends and family(Kevan and Leah came and joined us then) celebrating Aaron's birthday. We had a delicious dinner of ribs, rice, and salad with fruit bowls and angelfood cake for dessert. We had cinnamon rolls again Sunday morning which were the leftovers from Saturday morning that Mrs. Glover had made especially for Aaron's birthday breakfast. Delicious! After driving Duane to the hill, I spent the day driving and walking around Fernie. I took a few pictures, did some window shopping, and then spent time reading back at the house.
It was a relaxing weekend..just what we needed.
