Decorating Night

Last night I helped decorate the church...well...I moreso helped decorate the altar. Twice. Maybe 3 times. It's all a blur, and I'd rather not remember it. Alright, it wasn't THAT bad, but it wasn't what I expected.

I was glad to be given a job that wasn't something overly creative, given that my tired little self didn't really feel like thinking. It actually happened to be the job that Lisa disliked the most. Thanks Lisa. I was willing to try though because seriously, how hard could it be to wrap plastic pokey garland, entwined with white lights, around an altar?? Really, how hard? Lots harder than one would think! After being directed to the Rubbermaid container full of garland, I proceeded to unwrap it all and spread it across the front of the church and was going to go about wrapping(note: I did not put much thought into this process). It turned out that I shouldn't have unwrapped it all because, in order to wrap the altar properly, I needed to have an end to pull through! ARG! So frustrated. I ended up having to bundle all 100 feet of garland (ok...exaggerating) back up so I had a ball to pull over and under the whole altar. Once I had my armful of garland I went along winding the big ball around and around. It started to look good! Then....I got to the other end, sort of. That's when I realized I REALLY didn't like the job that was given to me. There was not enough garland to finish all the way to the other end, meaning I had wrapped too much on the first part, not leaving enough for the second. I wish I would have thought it through, because this meant going ALL the way back UNwinding the garland and loosening the first part(meaning, leaving wider spaces between each bit). It's hurting my head to try to explain it all...and unfortunately my picture of the garland isn't that great, but the point is that I call shotgun on NOT WINDING GARLAND next Christmas! I left the church last night with nasty rash-looking marks all down my arms from being poked by plastic garland.

At least the trees look pretty.

Christmas Decorating

'Tis the season already! Tonight I'm going to spend some time at the church helping a bunch of the ladies decorate for the Christmas season. It'll be yet another night this week that I'm not spending at home with my husband, but at least he has editing to keep him occupied tonight. I'm excited for food, beverages and time with the church gals! My creative instincts aren't extremely good, but maybe I'll come up with something...but hopefully someone will just direct me towards something and tell me what to do! I felt a need to help with this part of the Christmas season at our church since I'm not singing in the choir this year(as I work Thursday nights when they are rehearsing), and I'm also not participating in the Living Nativity..soooo...I kinda felt bad. We'll see how it goes tonight, and maybe this weekend(after doing some extra respite work on Saturday), and in the coming weeks, I'll get around to decorating my own house! Ah, how I love being festive!
Maybe tonight I'll just end up with photo documentation of this occasion...and I'll post those pics soon!

New Neighbor?

Last weekend we had new neighbors move in on BOTH sides of us. A couple days later, this is what we found trying to get in our front door...on a few occasions. Eventually I let her in...she was too cute to resist(until she started clawing at my kitchen chairs, then I kicked her out) :) I'm not entirely sure who she belongs to since she sorta just showed up around the time we got new neighbors, and I've not met any of them yet.
Anyway...I just took one picture after I kicked her out and she wouldn't leave, but she is actually cuter than the pic shows.

Meet the new neighbor :)

Lunch with Friends

The other day Katie and I went out for lunch...and Makenna tagged along :) After much deliberation we decided to go to Boston Pizza for some appetizers. While there's not much news surrounding our outing, we took a couple pictures of Makenna who, luckily, got her own spot at the table...complete with utensils and menu :) It was rather adorable. Here are two of the pictures of Her Royal Cuteness!

Baby Shower

On Saturday, Natasha and Carrie hosted the baby shower for Katie and Makenna out at Natasha's house in Bragg Creek. We had loads of fun, and there were so many people! We played games, ate food, and passed the baby :) The way it worked for baby-holding was based on whose gift was being opened at the time...unfortunately for me, I didn't take a gift to the shower, and that meant I didn't get a turn :( I made sure I held her before we left though! The gift I bought was delivered early because I just didn't want to wait! There were a few girls there who hadn't even MET Makenna yet, so I was ok without a turn for awhile. I got a picture of almost everyone holding her except four very important guests...Grandma Eisses, Aunty Erin, Aunty Marian, and MOM!! Katie says the reason I didn't get a picture of her holding her daughter happened to be because she barely held her!! It's true...someone was holding her at all times, except mom. Makenna did very well being passed around, I must say!
The pictures of the little Onesies were from a contest we had where the two teams had to decorate a Onesie and Katie would pick her favorite. Ours won! Yay! Everyone had some bit of input and then Becky designed it(except the pig, which I drew).
We all had a great time and were glad to be a part of celebrating baby Makenna Ruth Eisses!

Last Weekend

I forgot to blog about our weekend in Banff! Or...our partial day in Banff, rather. Nonetheless, it was fairly enjoyable. The pictures show us mainly outside when, in reality, the majority was spent INSIDE! Who goes to Banff and spends an entire day inside??? Not me...usually.
The reason we went was for the Banff Mountain Film Festival. None of us had ever been, I don't think. Maybe Kevan had, but maybe not in Banff. Apparently they're held around the country. Here I am thinking it's only held in Banff...hence BANFF Mountain Film Festival. Meh.

We watched maybe 8 films throughout the day, and boy did it make for a LONG day of sitting. Mind you, there were breaks periodically, and then we had a pretty long lunch break when Duane, Leah and I went on a short, 20 minute, hike, and Kevan read a book. The rest of the break we spent wandering, at which point Duane found a nice new toque that he wanted to keep(on the ground), but didn't.
The films we watched were mostly good, but I think that if we'd ever go again we'd just pick a few we want to see, and pay for those ones(if that's an option), as opposed to paying $45 for a whole day. I fell asleep for most of the last film because I was just SO tired...or I thought I was. My body may have been playing tricks on me, just because we happened to be sitting in the dark and it felt like night...therefore my body thought it should be sleeping. I dunno.

I think that's about all the explaining I can do at this point...and it's bedtime. I just got home from inspecting Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes(standing for 2.5 hours, which I'm not used to), so I'm pretty tired. It was fun as always, though, and maybe next year I can convince Duane that it's something worthwhile to do!

Cat bloopers

This made me laugh out loud, therefore worthy of a post on my blog! Enjoy!

Disregard this Post.

Apparently to add a picture to my Blogger profile(or to change it, in this instance), I need a URL...I think that means I need to add a picture here so I can get a URL?? I'm not sure why I can't just grab a picture from my Pictures folder...

I guess that's all!
